SignalFive Partners With Innergy Software

Monday, April 12th, 2010

After a year and a half in operation, SignalFive has established itself as a web and mobile app development shop with chops to contend with. Having widened our client base in the app development arena, we are broadening our horizons, and entering the enterprise market.

SignalFive is partnering with Innergy Software, a software development firm in New York, headed up by Victor Olteanu. Innergy is focused on managing and implementing projects using Agile methods. With clients such as MediDataHearst Corporation and eHire, Innergy has a proven track-record of building enterprise-class applications using a variety of technologies, including Ruby on Rails and Java. Case studies are available on MediData and eHire.

We’re very pleased to be partnering with Innergy Software, and we hope to make some exciting announcements about enterprise clients and projects in the near future!

SignalFive Conversations #1: Jon Phillips / @rejon

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

The other day I decided to do a ’status check’ with peers who are doing interesting things with technology and culture. Hopefully this will be the first in a series of part interview / part tech-talk, and part street-business that orients people to things happening now and in the future. It’s light spirited and casual, but covers a lot of concepts and ground..

The first is with Jon Phillips. Jon Phillips is a community and business developer contributing to society and building meaningful relationships. In 2002 he helped launch the open source drawing tool, Inkscape and founded the Open Clip Art Library. From 2005 until 2008 he built Creative Commons’ community and business development projects and is currently a Creative Commons Fellow. Currently, he is growing the media company Fabricatorz with Cantocore Art Exhibitions, Laoban Open Soundsystems, and is recently assisting with an upcoming re-launch of Status.Net (Identi.ca). He is known for growing successful open communities globally, leading international business development in Asia (particularly China), and developing Open Marketing.

Sweetcron on SignalFive

Friday, December 12th, 2008

We saw Yong Fook’s Sweetcron, and decided to add a SignalFive Stream (http://blog.signalfive.com/stream/). Basically, Sweetcron is an RSS feed aggregator with a social networking bent. You add the feeds you want to track, such as your Twitter, blog, Vimeo account etc., and Sweetcron puts them all on a single page, called a Lifestream. When you log in to the admin panel, you see a Dashboard, showing the most recent items in your stream:

The sweet thing about Sweetcron is that it’s written in CodeIgniter, so it’s easy to maintain and customize. It uses a MySQL database with 6 tables (to store feeds, options, tags, users, items and tag_relationships, or tag-to-item mappings). The application is straightforward and simple, just the way we like it. Here’s a screenshot of the Options page:

With Ping.fm on the one hand, and Sweetcron on the other, you can cover a lot of your social networking generation and aggregation needs. If you like Sweetcron and need help installing and configuring it, take a look at Chris Coyier’s tutorial.
